Bloody Hell!! (Red Lips)

After 4 days of not blogging....

I'm here to talk about two lipsticks by MAC.

Say hello to MAC Lady Bug and On Hold.

Lady Bug has a Lustre finish while On Hold has a Cremesheen finish

Top: Lady Bug- Lustre.

Bottom: On Hold- Cremesheen.

How come I never heard anyone raved about these lipsticks before? They are a must have.

I have been buying bold lipstick for the past couple of weeks.I know, it isn't practical to have more than 5 red lipsticks, but I need them in my life.

As much as I adore lip gloss, during the windy fall and winter weather, I tend to opt for lipstick. Lip gloss can be sticky sometime, or not sometimes..always! If you do not want your hair to stick on your lips, then you need to be vigilant and tie your hair back. Lipstick is huge this fall and it seems that each time the chilly season is upon us, darker lips come back into fashion.

I love lips that make a statement, but I won't ever wear dark plum/black shades because I just can't pull those colors off. Lips too dark can look scary and they can also make a young, lively woman look years older if the tone does not flatter her natural coloring. One last thing, make sure your lips are not chapped, so before putting lipstick on, apply lip balm.

First off- MAC Lady Bug(Lustre)

Mac described this shade as yellow tomato. They are indeed right! I LOVE how pigmented this red lipstick is knowing that it is a lustre finish. One of my favorite red lipstick ever.I really enjoy this product; the consistency, application, and colour are beautiful. To me, its the perfect basic red. The lustre finish imparts a nice sheen that's not too drying.

If you are are debating whether red lips suit you or not, I recommend trying MAC's Lustre/Glaze finishes first. Try to find a red that you are comfortable in.

Here is On Hold(Cremesheen)

Mac described this as a mid-tone yellow Raspberry with micro gold reflects. On my pigmented lips, it shows up like what MAC described it as, but with more pink tones. It is the kind of shade that everyone can wear. This lipstick can be worn in school, work, or an everyday lip color. If you are not brave enough to show yourself with a red lip, try applying a nude base like Myth or Creme D' Nude.

A Bright Lip Well..ish

Don't be scared, besides it's "in" for this season

I'm so excited to put on bright lipsticks for fall/winter because I can just go out with a simple eye make-up and bold bright lips.

I really think that every make-up junkie should own at least THREE red lipsticks. One with blue tones, pink tones, and well..I call it a neutral red. There are a lot of nice red lipsticks, but I just had to go to MAC and find a perfect red shade for me.

So, without further ado..

Everyone, meet Lustering and Cockney. They are both in the lustre family.

YES! I went with lustre finish because I can't pull off an amplified or matte red. Those finishes will just be so "in your face" when I wear them.

First up, MAC Cockney(Lustre)

I don't know where they got the name, but it's indeed a beautiful shade.

I can only describe Cockney as a true red with blue undertones. The texture is nice and glides on your lips smoothly. It also has a small bit of shine. I consider this to be a great starter shade for red beginners or for someone looking for a really subdued color.

and then there's MAC Lustering..

I first heard this from Laura(lollipop26) love her so much, obviously that's why I bought this. Anyways, Laura was right, it is a sheer watermelon shade. This shade did not really show up nicely on my lips, but I can totally layer it with something else. I still love this shade and It is work appropriate too.

Review: A Fall Shade Polish- Don't Tell Mama

Nail polish is a form of drug- very, very, very addicting.

Agree?

Soooooooo...

Aside from purchasing the new Essie Fall 2010 collection, I also managed to purchase another nail varnish by Deborah Lippmann.

Who is Deborah Lippmann? well she is just the go-to manicurist for popular magazines like Vogue, Fashion, Vanity Fair, Elle, etc. Speaking of magazines, I believe it was the August Vanity Fair issue- Lady Gaga was the front cover and she was wearing a Deborah Lippmann shade called Waking Up in Vegas (photo below). This brand manages to create fabulous shades of nail polishes. They have variety of shades to choose from- from pastel,dark vampy shades, glitters, etc . Now, her polishes cost $16- $18 which for me, is not cheap at all. I do not usually spend $10 + when it comes to nail polishes because there are many cheaper brands that carries fantastic dupes. For instance, OPI is $7.50 and Essie is around $8.50- $10, so I stay within that prize range. To be honest, I do not even own a single MAC polish *shockeroo*, but it's true!

Anyways, back to Deborah..

So, the SA asked me if I needed some help and I told her that I'm looking for a dark vampy hunter green shade(Yeap! those are the exact words that came out of my mouth). The SA quickly got a Deborah Lippmann polish in Don't Tell Mama. When I saw the bottle, I was shocked and fell in love with the shade. Don't Tell Mama- is a deep blackened blue- green with shimmers. Indeed, this was the shade I was looking for. The SA impressed me, so in return I bought this lovely polish.

The packaging is luxurious. The bottle is incredible, not your ordinary round/square shaped bottle, but it has a little something that makes this brand a must buy for every nail polish junkie out there.

So these photos can speak for themselves..

Deborah Lippmann Don't Tell Mama (love the names)- The consistency is excellent- it better be for an $18 prize. Formula is is outstanding and I think you can tell that it is high end because of the packaging and when I applied this polish, it applied flawlessly.

This shade looks black when you are inside the house, but once you step out..the shimmers just shines!

I would definitely purchase more Deborah Lippmann polish. Will you?

I learned an important lesson.

Look how tiny my nails are? I went to my nail salon and had my sparkly tip acrylics removed. Back to natural short- length nails.

I took this photo before I painted my nails.

I know it isn't perfect because I just told the nail technician to remove the acrylics- no manicure. Nothing at all.

I'm happy that I actually went to the salon and have it removed because there's nothing than a nice professional touch. Now, it doesn't have those streaks(acrylic- obsessed people will understand what I'm saying) and it is much much much easier to apply nail varnish on. Happy Girl.

At first, I didn't want to go to the nail salon because I asked how much will I pay to have my acrylics removed and they told me that I need to pay $10 :|. Good thing the boyfriend pushed me to do it. Yes, he paid for it :). Thank you.

Lesson learned: There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE..now, I realized that there is nothing better than to go to a nail salon and have a professional nail technician remove my acrylics. Before, I usually remove them myself and they look horrible. Pay a small amount of money because it will be worth it at the end.

anyways..

I'm lemming for another shade from Deborah Lippmann called Bad Romance (picture below)- again, I think Lady Gaga collaborated with this brand because the website described it as a Gaga blackened fuchsia with glitters.

Damn! I need THIS!!

I need some fall shade recommendations? anyone?

Essie Fall Collection 2010

Essie is stepping up their game!

When I saw the new Essie collection for fall 2010, I knew I have to get all of them(there are six).

I do not have a lot of dark colored polish for fall season, so I need to get my greedy hands on these *big smile*.

I have a lot of OPI compared to Essie maybe because Essie's are more expensive than OPI's here in Canada, so I wanted to explore this brand more.

This morning, I went to a nearby mall and entered a salon, looked at the Essie rack and there they were, the new Essie fall collection 2010 sitting lonely and staring at me saying "buy me". I was in awe and just like a little girl, I grabbed five shades out of the six that Essie released.

You can also purchase these at essie.com($8 each), I was suppose to purchase it online last night, but my boyfriend stopped me because the shipping is quite pricey. He told me to go to the mall today and just get them there. The store that I got these Essie from sells it for CAD$ 9.50, but I have a $10 off coupon from them. Yay me, so practically I got 1 polish free!

Oh and because I'm obsessed withe nail polish, I added two OPI's from their new Swiss Collection- also fall shades :)- I will be doing a post on these polish tomorrow. So watch out for that.

Anyways, back to Essie- the formula is great(not to thick and not too thin) and it has a glossy finish to it. They do not have any shimmers or glitters(except one) so that's a plus for me. Pure creamy indulgence :). You can get away with two coats because it is well pigmented. Im very impressed with Essie. Love this collection. I have no regrets purchasing them at all.

I did not get Merino Cool because it is very similar to OPI Metro Chic, so I skipped that one.

NOTE: I still have my shimmery tip acrylics on, you can see it through some swatches below, but ignore the shimmers. These polishes are cream. Sorry for that. I just didn't want to remove my acrylics on just yet. I will wait until fall officially starts. Bye bye long nails and hello short perfectly groomed nails :)

From Left- Right: Velvet Voyeur, Little Brown Dress, Limited Addiction, In Stitches, Sew Psyched, Mink Muffs(not included in this collection- just bought it because it's taupe :))

In Stitches- A Rosey-pink cream that has a hint of plum undertone. This shade is not too pink which I love.

Sew Psyched- My favorite! It is difficult to describe this shade, but I guess I can say that it is a muted green with a little bit of fine shimmers. You can only notice the shimmers when you are directly under the sun.

Mink Muffs- Again, this is not included with this collection. This is a taupey brown shade that is perfect for fall.

Velvet Voyeur- is a deep deep burgundy red that goes on glossy. This is one of my fave too.

Little Brown Dress- An Applause for Essie because they released such pretty shade of dark chocolate brown. You won't really notice that this shade is brown, unless you go under the sun.

Limited Addiction- Love the name, love the application, and love the shade.Your classic deep red polish. This one is very pigmented that you can get away with just one coat.

For those who live in Canada, do you guys know any Essie online retailers? I do not want to pay expensive shipping. :) Thank you.

Revlon Lipgloss

Hey everyone,

I know I'm late with these, but I want to share with you these glosses. So, two weeks ago I went to Seattle and did some make-up/clothes shopping. I went to Ulta, and to my surprise they still have the limited edition Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss. I was really on a hunt for Peach Petal, but unfortunately they didn't have any in stock, so I went with Firecracker and Coral reef. For some reason I didn't see any of these limited edition Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Vancouver(If you live in Canada, did Revlon even released these glosses here at all??). So, anyways, as you all know I'm a nude girl, so I added one product in my basket and that's Nude Lustre.

I liked Coral Reef and Nude Lustre, but I regret buying Firecracker. If you are not familiar with Firecracker, it is the limited edition red gloss that is VERY SHEER! I thought this would be my favorite out of the three, but I hate it. The finish is way to sheer and it is more orange toned than red. I didn't even bother including Firecracker here. I know a lot of people love Firecracker, but not me.

So, here are my two Revlon glosses..

Nude Lustre and Coral Reef

I will be showing you guys some photos of what lipstick I will pair these glosses with.

I'll start off with Nude Lustre- Its a gorgeous nude, orangey/pinkish color that compliments my skin really well. It contains fine shimmers and is so pigmented. The gloss itself is non-sticky and smells great. This gloss will go with whatever eye makeup I'm wearing because the shade adds a bit of color to my face without overpowering my eyeshadow colors. Plus, it has SPF 15.

*I wasn't able to take a picture of GOSH Darling lipstick because my camera ran out of battery. SORRY, but I bet everyone knows how GOSH Darling looks like, it is nude. :D*

Coral Reef- This colour is flattering on any skin tone. On my quite pigmented lips, it gives my lips a nice hint of pinky- coral colour without being too over the top. This has such a smooth texture that it is not sticky at all. Just like any other Revlon gloss, this has a nice smell and it does last a long time on the lips. I would pair this with MAC Jazzed or MAC Shy Girl or any coral toned lipstick.
