Monthly Favorites: March 2011

End of march means monthly favorites time!

I know it's cliche, but march just flew by and it's time for the flowers to bloom and us to be able to wear just one layer of clothes. I hate layering clothes, or maybe not hate hate, but I just miss wearing shorts and tanks.

Rant over.

Anyways..... I love reading and watching monthly favorites from beauty gurus on Youtube and bloggers as well. I have nothing else to say, but to share with you my favorite products for the month of March.

So, here they are: Products:
- Aveda Volumizing Tonic Spray- I use this on damp hair(just on the crown) and use a blow dryer just to give me that extra lift on my crown area. This product cost around $18 in Canada.

- Bath and Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom body lotion- I love the smell of Japanese Cherry Blossom. I need to get a bigger bottle of this soon.

- Sonia Kashuk makeup remover- As you can see this is the type of makeup remover that has two layers. Before using, make sure you shake it well in order for the product to work well. I bought this in the US for only less than $15, so definitely a worth it product.

- John Frieda 3 Day Straight - You guys know how much I LOOOVE this product- it smells good, gives my hair that shine that is much needed, and it doesn't weigh down my hair. Good work John Frieda. If you are not familiar with this product, make sure to watch or read a review of it.

- Fekkai Glossing Cream with olive oil- I can't say anything bad about this hair product. I really recommend trying this glossing cream. You can find this almost everywhere, but I got mine in ULTA for only $9( got the travel size), so the huge bottle cost more than $20 I believe. WORTH EVERY PENNY!

- Coastal Scents Bionic Flat Top Kabuki and Sigma F80 brush- I use these two brushes for liquid foundation and bronzer. All the hype on the Sigma F8 being the best liquid foundation brush is totally true. It gives me a flawless finish and I love the fact that it has synthetic hair.

- Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Tipsy

- N.Y.C Creme Stick in Plaza Pink

- MAC Rubenesque paintpot

Hand swatch:
(upper)N.Y.C creme stick in Plaza Pink- This is probably one f the most popular shades from the N.Y.C Creme Stick line. I use my MAC 109 brush to get the product and slap it on my cheeks. It gives me a nice pinky-coral sheen Perfect for summer. In my opinion, this is the easiest cream blush to blend.

(lower)Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Tipsy- A bright pigmented orangey- coral blush that is a dream to apply and blend.

* I use these two blushes together

Hand swatch:
Rubenesque paintpot - A golden peach with subtle gold shimmers. I've been using this as an eyeshadow all over the lid after I put painterly or UDPP, I love how you can just slap this on your lids and you're good to go.

Do you have any of these products that I've mentioned? If so, do you like them? What are your favorites for this month?

Have a nice day :)

Monthly Favorites: February

How's your Friday so far? Mine has been great, but it will be a cold and rainy weekend here in Vancouver(what's new anyways?). Just a little bit more patience and spring is here, so let's just wait and hope for a good and warm(not wet) spring season.

so..

Finally I had the chance to do my February favorites and I'm really excited to share them with you. Nothing too exciting tho, but I think I never done a monthly favorites post before, so say hello to my first monthly favorite blog post for the month of February.

I know I'm 4 days late, but better late than never right?

So let's get straight to the point here.

1. Revlon Soft Nude- is your typical nude lipstick that goes on smoothly and it is very moisturizing as well. I don't really use lipgloss these days, but I apply my MAC TLC in Petting Pink before I apply this lipstick and on top of it too.

2. NARS Nepal eyeshadow- if you have MAC All That Glitters or MAC Naked Lunch, Nepal is very similar to them. I use this all over my lid and apply MAC Shroom or Urban Decay Virgin as a inner corner highlight and I'm good to go. I've been using this boring eye combo for the whole month of January and February.

3. Korres Vitamin Face Primer- at first, I wasn't really impress with this Korres face primer, but I decided to give it a second try and finally, I fell in love with it. I'm almost done and I will purchase a new one very soon. If you are the type of person who uses a face primer before applying your foundation, give this a try.

4. MAC 182 kabuki brush- the best kabuki brush hands down! The MAC 181 does the same job, but it is smaller and cuter compared to this(This 182 is 181's mom). I use this to buff in my blush and whenever I use a MSF. I can't say anything bad about this brush(oh! I know- EXPENSIVE! $50 + YIKES!)

5. MAC Natural Skinfinish in light medium- I use this as a finishing powder. I first apply my primer, foundation, concealer and then get a big fluffy face brush and sweep this Natural Skin Finish all over my face and it does gives me a nice glow.

6. MAC 116 brush- I use this to apply my blush and it id a good blush brush, but I do prefer MAC 109. I will do an in depth comparison of this brush and MAC 109 because couple of people requested me to do that. SO your wish is my command. :)

7. MAC 109 brush- Best contour brush, blush brush, bronzer brush, and highlighting brush. I think I can live with this brush alone.

8. MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion- I did a review of MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion here, so check it out if you are interested with it. I use this as a highlight on my cheek bones, nose bridge and brow bones.

9. Benefit Hoola bronzer- do I even need to explain this famous bronzer because there are millions of reviews about this Benefit product. Im happy to say that they are ALL right. This bronzer is matte and does not give me a muddy looking face. DO I prefer this over Laguna? I think about 70% maybe just because Laguna is a bit too orange for me, but I did use Laguna for a year and a half. I bought Hoola because I ran out of Laguna and that's what everyone recommended to me.

and...

My "necessary" products
- What I mean about "nessary" products are the products that never change in my makeup routine, such as my moisturizers, concealer, eyeliner, liquid eyeliner, foundation and eye primer.

> Cetaphil
> MAC Face and Body mixed with NARS Sheer Glow
> MAC Stuido Finish concealer in NW20 ad YSL Touche Eclat in #8
> MAC Superslick Liquid liner in On the Hunt
> MAC Powerpoint Kohl liner in Graphblack
> MAC Paintpots, Painterly and topped with Bare Study

What are your Fabruary favorite beauty products?

Have a good weekend :)

Favorite Products Series: It's All About The Nails

Hey lovelies

How's your weekend so far? and of my American readers/followers, how's the shopping? I'm really excited to read/watch some Black Friday hauls.

Anyways, I got my camera back, so time to blog again with decent pictures.

I promised you guys that I will be doing a Favorite products Series, so here it is. I'm going to show you my favorite fall/winter nail polishes. I have been using these polishes non- stop and I just can't get enough of them. Fall/winter is the season to sport dark nails, so here are some from my nail polish collection.
from left-right: OPI Cuckoo for this Color, OPI Teasy Does It, OPI Smitten with Mitten, OPI Bogota Blackberry, OPI Extra-va-ganza, Sally Hansen Celeb City, American Apparel Berrt, Essie Little Brown Dress.

OPI Bogota Blackberry, OPI Extra-va-ganza!, Sally Hansen Celeb City, American Apparel Berry, and Essie Little Brown Dress.

here is my NOTD with a glitter nail accent.- ironically I used a pink polish by OPI called Strawberry Margarita with this dollar store glitter polish.

If you guys want to purchase glitter polishes, I highly recommend looking at a dollar store first, especially the ones that are just clear with glitters in it.
I probably shouldn't be showing you this because my hands have cuts and bruises from all those paper cuts/box cuts. So, excuse the cuts guys, sorry :)OPI Strawberry Margarita and Marie Claire glitter polish.
What's on your nails right now? Share them with us, or even better tell us your favorite varnishes. :)

* if you guys want to see swatches of my favorite nail polishes, just comment below and I'll make a separate post :)

oh follow me on TWITTER please!

Have a lovely Sunday.

Products for November

Hi ladies and gents

It's Halloween! What's your Halloween costume? I will be a girl scout. :)

I just realized I post less and less every month. :( I will try my best to post every other day next month! :)

Anyways its the end of October! wow this month was QUICK! Fall is almost over and the Holiday season is coming right up. Time for some sparkles and gift shopping. I love Holidays because I want to shop for Christmas presents.

A lot of things happened this month- good and bad, but I will go on with my life and just be thankful for what I have and who I have in my life. Well, forget the sermon, let's go with the products I'm talking about.

I will start off with lips, eyes, and then face.

LIPS:

so for this month, I will return to the usual nude lips. I love bold lips for winter, but I will always go back to nude. So here they are, MAC Hue lipstick and Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss in Pout.
Left: MAC Hue lipstick
Right: Smashbox Pout
EYES:

You know me, I LOVE eyeliners. I can't leave the house without eyeliner, so I will still be using the same eyeliner as before.

Here is MAC Superslick liquid eyeliner from the MAC fabulous Feline collection
and my all time fave liquid eyeliner which is Kat Von D tattoo Liner in trooper. I recommend everyone to get this! I finished three of these already. Im really impressed with it.
An eyeshadow base is a must for winter.

Here is MAC Bare Study. I always use Painterly for the last three-four months, but now I will give bare Study a try.

So for the month of November, I decided that I will start using eyeshadows again. So here are my favorite eyeshadows..and they are all Neutral.

CHEEKS:

For blushes I decided tat I will try MAC Dame(Left) and the ever so versatile MAC Well Dressed(Right).Swatch for the blushes

I want to try MAC Skin Finish Natural in Dark, but I think this will be too orange on my skin. So I decided that I will apply NARS Laguna on top.

Monthly Combinations: Lips for October

Well, well... impressive huh? I blogged for two consecutive days, so with that I'll give myself a pat on the back. Good girl Kim, keep it up. :) well there you go, I just praised myself. yikes, but I should keep this habit and blog 4-5 times a week, but to be honest I havn't been buying anything, so I can't post hauls. I will be purchasing maybe two or three products from the MAC A Tartan Tale collection tomorrow. So watch out for that haul.

I've been a good girl lately and have been saving up for a leather jacket that I've been wanting for a year! yes guys, a year. I decided to get it as a birthday present for myself.(well, the Boyfriend will half with me) Yippeeee! Another haul right there. I won't say what brand now, but I will be posting some photos maybe next week.

I've decided that I will put updates on my life at least once a week, so here it is...

- I've been using and buying less makeup this month and I feel great. I have way too many lipsticks/glosses/eyeshadows and it's ridiculous. I'm still thinking on doing a blog sale, but I don't know if you guys are interested. So let me know.

- I will be gcrossing the border on November and I can't wait. We will be going to Seattle and will be staying there for 3 days. Shopping for clothes- plain v-necks to be specific. I bet I will be adding more as time flies.

- My parents decided that we will go on a family vacation in May to..guess where? CALIFORNIA BABY! I've been there couple of times already, but I have a 4 year old sister and we will bring her to Disneyland. Do you guys have any recommended places to go in Cali? Let me know. Im incharge for everything.

- I excercise every morning around 8:30 for about 30 minutes. I need to stay in shape for the holidays because holidays means food. Parties everywhere! I will TRY MY BEST to enroll in a gym for a serious work out maybe this weekend.

- Weather is crappy here, grey-ugly-looking clouds, rain almost everyday, muddy street. YUCK. I hope the sun shines again. I mean I do love rain, but not too much.

- While walking earlier, I saw boys, yes around 15-17 years old walking to school and they were just wearing shirt, jeans and sneakers NO JACKET/SWEATER and they were shivering. I don't think they forgot to wear their jackets because it is freaking 6 degrees here, I think they thought that it is "cool" and "manly" for them not to wear anything to keep them warm. WOW this made me laugh.

anyways...

Wow i wrote so many things. I didn't even realize it.

Here are the lip combinations I've been wearing for this month- October.

1. Mac Hue and Revlon Nude Lustre

MAC Hue alone
Mac Hue and Nude Lustre on top.

2. MAC Myth and MAC Splashing lipglass
MAC Myth aloneMAC Myth and MAC Splasing lipglass on top

What's going on in your life? Share them with us.
What lip combos are you rocking this month?
Thanks for reading. :)
