Shopping My Stash: Part 2

and.. the "Shopping My Stash" journey goes on

If you haven't seen my part 1 of my "Shopping My Stash" series it is the post before this one(yesterday).

Okay, so let me share what I found in my makeup stash.

Somewhere inside that drawer, I found a bunch of lip products. I know lip products expire quickly, but no worries because I know if a product is already a no-no- if it smells funny, the texture of the gloss is different than it used to be, and if the gloss is chunky or cakey.

You all know that Sephora has their own makeup line which I actually neglect whenever I go there. I probably only own about 5 products from the Sephora line- 3 makeup bushes, 1 lip liner, and this lipgloss I'm going to talk about. If you know any Sephora products that's worth the money please let me know. I actually want to try some of their goodies. Thank you.

So the gloss I'm talking about is the Sephora Super Shimmer Lip Gloss in Pink-O-Lada

I reunited with Pink-O-Lada again and I'm very happy with her. Yes, I assumed "Pink-O-Lada" is a girl, well just cuz!

so anyways,

Why do I like it?
> Not sticky at all
> Tube Packaging- sanitary
> Affordable- $10
> Shining shimmering goodness
> Last for about an hour-2 hours
> Taste good- lemonade

What's a bad thing about it?
> the gloss is thick

Would I recommend it?
> Definitely! Sephora has tons of shades for this Super Shimmer Lip Gloss- I actually want to try - Limey(sheer green apple shimmer-yum), In The Buff (nude), and Flushed (magenta with gold shimmers)

here's some photos of Pink-O-Lada

I applied MAC Snob
Then slapped Pink-O-Lada on top- Tada! I told you its shining shimmering goodness :D
and then I found one more gloss - Revlon Fire Cracker
I remember before, I ranted about this product and then I set it aside, but I'm starting to like it now. It's a sheer orangey-red gloss- I recommend not wearing this alone(wear it on top of a nude or red lipstick), but If you don't have pigmented lips, maybe this gloss is for you.

ORANGE!
That's Firecracker alone on my lips :) I quite like it, but I prefer this gloss on top of a lipstick.
Conclusion: MORE GLOSS for me :)
Have you been shopping your stash lately? What did you guys find?
It's Thursday or maybe it's Friday in your country already, sooo ENJOY :)

Top 10 Favorite Lipgloss

Well... look what we have here. My Top 10 Favorite Lipgloss, of course!

As you all know I will be participating, or should I say I'm participating on the GLOSS OUT 2011. I'm really excited to prove and challenge myself on a lipgloss ban, so with that being said I will limit myself with ONLY FIVE LIPGLOSSES for 2011. Good luck to me and all those people who are joining this movement.

You will not be seeing a lot of lipgloss hauls, so I decided to show you my top picks from my lipgloss collection. Honestly, I don't have a lot compared to other makeup junkies out there. I actually had a time/phase that I was obsessed with lipglosses, especially MAC's Cremesheen Glasses and Lipglasses. I would buy at least two lipgloss a week(I' m not even exaggerating), and then I realized that I do not need 30-40 lipglosses do I? So I just had to stop and said to myself that I can only buy limited edition lipglosses(this was last year by the way).

so that's my lipgloss story right there.

Enough chit chat. Here are my top 10 favorite lipglosses

here are some photos and hand swatches.

from left to right(above): Smashbox Pout, MAC Preciousness lipglass, MAC Fashion Scoop Cremesheen Glass, MAC On the Scene Cremesheen Glass, MAC Perfectly ordinary Dazzleglass Creme

I will be splitting them into 2 parts

PART I
Hand swatch(below):

Top- Smashbox Pout, MAC Preciousness Lipglass, MAC Fashion Scoop Cremesheen Glass,
Below: MAC On the Scene Cremesheen Glass, and MAC Perfectly Unordinary Dazzglass Creme.Part II

From left to right(below): Revlon Nude Lustre, MAC Culture Clash, MAC Underage, MAC Florabundance, and MAC Ample Pink Plush Glass

and..here's a hand swatch

Top: Revlon Nude Lustre, MAC Culture Clash, MAC Underage,

Bottom: MAC Florabunce, and MAC Ample Pink Plush Glass

I know they are mostly MAC- 80% to be exact, but I want to explore on other brands.

If I were to choose ONLY 5 glosses I would choose:

-MAC Fashion Scoop, MAC Underage, MAC Florabundance, Revlon Nude Lustre, and Smashbox Pout.

I think this year, I will be purchasing some Chanel glosses. I really want to try them out.

Have a happy day :) and thank you for reading

Nail Polish Collection and Favorite Polishes

You've seen my favorite lipsticks, now let me show you my favorite polishes and my nail polish collection.

If you know me you know that I change my nail color every 2-3 days. I know this isn't healthy for my nails, but I just have to do it.

I've been collecting nail polishes for over two years now, and it is still growing until now. I should probably ban myself from buying polishes, but I know I won't be able to do it. I can ban myself from not purchasing any lipgloss this year, which by the way I'm doing a GLOSSOUT 2011. If you are not familiar with this movement, it's simple you do not buy any lipgloss this year. I'm not doing a total lipgloss ban, but I will only buy FIVE lipgloss this year. Who's with me? Let's challenge ourselves shall we?

Okay, so enough blabbing about lipglosses and I'll show you my nail polish collection. Take note that I have been collecting these polishes for over 2 years and it is still expanding. Most of my collection consist of OPI polishes just because they are widely available here in Vancouver. Essie is a bit harder to find compared to OPI. I have some Revlon polishes too, and I must say that I'm really impress with the formulation and consistency of it.

So with out further a do here's my nail polish collection.

I probably have over 50 polishes, I know this is insane, but I can't stop myself from purchasing nail varnishes okay? :D

I will break down the brands that I own.
> OPI- chips after 2-3 days.
> Revlon- chips after 3 days.
> Essie- chips after 3-4 days.
> American Apparel- chips after 1- 2 days.
> Orly-chips after 2 days.
> Sally Hansen- chips after 3-4 days.
> China Glaze- chips after 2-3 days.
> E.L.F.- chips after 1 day.
> Deborah Lipmann- chips after3-4 days

I've been experimenting with them for a while now, and I conclude that OPI might have a wide range of colors and they are very easy to find(most salons carry OPI), but Essie, Deborah Lipmann, and Sally Hansen last longer and they don't chip until the 3rd or 4th day. This will not stop me from buying OPI's because I love the formulation and the wide brush it comes with.

I would not recommend getting E.L.F. polishes. I know they cost a dollar and we should not expect a lot from them, but I just won't bother buying more polishes from them. I love their makeup and brushes, but definitely not their polishes.

I will now be showing my top nail polish picks.
(photo above) Left to right: American Apparel Hunter, Revlon Stormy, OPI Metro Chic, Essie Mink Muffs, Essie Little Brown Dress, Sally Hansen Red Zin, OPI Vodka and Caviar, OPI Lincoln Park at Midnight, OPI Dating A Royal, OPI Strawberry Margarita
Left to Right: American Apparel Hunter, Revlon Stormy, OPI Metro Chic, Essie Mink Muffs, Essie Little Brown Dress
Left to Right: Sally Hansen Red Zin, OPI Vodka and Caviar, OPI Linclon Park at Midnight, OPI Dating a Royal, OPI Strawberry Margarita.

and..here are my favorite glitter polishes
from Left to Right: OPI Sparkalicious, OPI Mad as A Hatter, OPI Extra-va-ganza!, Deborah Lipmann Don't Tell Mama, Orly Rage, Sally Hansen Celeb City
I took these pictures a week ago, and you guys know I bought some polishes recently such as; OPI Teenage Dream, OPI Black Shatter, and OPI Simply Smashing. I would include these in my top polish picks.

So, now you know my favorite lipsticks and my favorite nail polishes. I think I will do my favorite lipglosses next. What do you think?

What's your favorite nail polish brand? I would love to try Rescue Beauty Lounge, Chanel, Zoya, Sinful Colors, and Butter London. Give me some recommendations if you have any.

Happy Tuesday.

xoxo, Kim

Holiday Makeup Look III- Pin Up

Why hello there ladies and gents How are ya'll doing?

How's your weekend so far? so far so good? or is this not your weekend?

Anyways, I'm back to share another Holiday Makeup Look part tres. Now, for this post I will be showing you a modern pin up look, but still has that 50's-60's edge to it.

Holiday parties is a good excuse to dress up and to slap lots of makeup on your face. For me, Holiday means sparkles, glitters, red, green, and golds(and all other color out there). Have you guys chosen your holiday outfit yet? I will be wearing a sparkling skirt or shorts(not sure yet). I will post a OOTD here when that day comes(Dec 24).

If you aren't aware yet, I will not be staying here in Vancouver for the Holidays. I will be on a vacation to visit my family and friends. So, I guess I won't be blogging that often. I will be away on December 15th till January 4th. So I'm just apologizing in advance if I won't be blogging that much on those days.

So, let's go back to the Holiday Makeup Look I'm talking about. Whether you want to dress up or dress down, be sophisticated or down to earth, a pin up look would be great with everything. So, this is why I decided to put up this look.

I hope you guys enjoy- I tried my best to create a modern Dita Von Tess look.

If you say Pin Up..this means..

- Face should be LIGHTER than usual(flawless)- I tried my best :D
- Upper lashline should be LINER HEAVY(black)
- Precise WING look
- Cheeks should be PINK
- Lips should be RED

So here's my Holiday Pin Up Look...

For the FACE:

-I used NARS Sheer Glow alone in Ceylon- I used this because this is a shade lighter than what I often use.
-For concealers- I used typical YSL Touche Eclat and MAC Select Moisture
-Then I applied MAC Natural Skin Finish in Medium- Applied all over face powder
- I applied MAC Pink Swoon(apply only on the apples of the cheeks in circular motion) then I used NARS Deep Throat(dabbed a tiny bit for an extra glow)
___________________________________
For the EYES:
- Eyeshadow base: MAC Painterly Paintpot- applied all over the lid up to the brow bone
- Then I used MAC Brule(for this step, you can use any beigey-nude, matte eyeshadow)- applied it all over lid. Then I used MAC Shroom for tear duct highlight. I then used MAC Cork for the crease(use a small amount of a light brown eyeshadow. You just want to enhance the crease)
- This is the most important part for this look- The HEAVY LINER and the WING at the end. I used Revlon Colorstay liquid liner(thicker than usual), then I created the wing look.
- For mascara- you need at least three coats of you favorite volumizing mascara and a lengthening one as well. For this look, I used L'oreal Volume Million mascara and topped of with YSL Faux Cils mascara.

*** didn't put any products for the lower lash line or water line.

_________________________________________
For the LIPS:

- Pin Up girl equals RED lips- now, for this look I do not have a matte red lipstick in my collection, but I just used any red toned lipstick I have. MAC Viva Glam Cyndi lipstick.

*** You can definitely make your lips more dramatic by using a matte red or a dark burgundy shade.

What's your take on a pin up look? Is it your style?

I think everyone can rock this look, whether or not you have a fair, medium, or dark skin tone. just make sure be glamorous and be the center of attention :) Have a lovely Christmas everyone. So now...I'm going to greet all my followers/reader a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you all for your support.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful Sunday :)

Revlon Lipgloss

Hey everyone,

I know I'm late with these, but I want to share with you these glosses. So, two weeks ago I went to Seattle and did some make-up/clothes shopping. I went to Ulta, and to my surprise they still have the limited edition Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss. I was really on a hunt for Peach Petal, but unfortunately they didn't have any in stock, so I went with Firecracker and Coral reef. For some reason I didn't see any of these limited edition Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Vancouver(If you live in Canada, did Revlon even released these glosses here at all??). So, anyways, as you all know I'm a nude girl, so I added one product in my basket and that's Nude Lustre.

I liked Coral Reef and Nude Lustre, but I regret buying Firecracker. If you are not familiar with Firecracker, it is the limited edition red gloss that is VERY SHEER! I thought this would be my favorite out of the three, but I hate it. The finish is way to sheer and it is more orange toned than red. I didn't even bother including Firecracker here. I know a lot of people love Firecracker, but not me.

So, here are my two Revlon glosses..

Nude Lustre and Coral Reef

I will be showing you guys some photos of what lipstick I will pair these glosses with.

I'll start off with Nude Lustre- Its a gorgeous nude, orangey/pinkish color that compliments my skin really well. It contains fine shimmers and is so pigmented. The gloss itself is non-sticky and smells great. This gloss will go with whatever eye makeup I'm wearing because the shade adds a bit of color to my face without overpowering my eyeshadow colors. Plus, it has SPF 15.

This is my natural lip color.
*I wasn't able to take a picture of GOSH Darling lipstick because my camera ran out of battery. SORRY, but I bet everyone knows how GOSH Darling looks like, it is nude. :D*

So..

This is Nude Lustre alone
Nude lipstick such as GOSH Darling
GOSH Darling with Nude Lustre
Coral Reef- This colour is flattering on any skin tone. On my quite pigmented lips, it gives my lips a nice hint of pinky- coral colour without being too over the top. This has such a smooth texture that it is not sticky at all. Just like any other Revlon gloss, this has a nice smell and it does last a long time on the lips. I would pair this with MAC Jazzed or MAC Shy Girl or any coral toned lipstick.

Coral Reef and MAC Jazzed lipstick side by side.
MAC Jazzed alone
Revlon Coral Reef alone
MAC Jazzed lipstick w/ Revlon Coral Reef.
How do you pair your lipstick ad lipgloss? Do you pair it with same shades(example: nude on nude, pink on pink and coral on coral) or do you just smack any combination? Share it with us :)

Haul- American Apparel Polishes

Hi ladies,

As you all know, I recently got these three polishes from Shoppers Drugmart and posted it before this one. I promised to do a nail swatch for these babies, so here they are:
Revlon Jaded, Revlon Stormy, and Sally Hansen Red-Zin

Red-Zin, Stormy, and Jaded (Taken inside)
Taken outside

Stormy and Red-Zin are amazing.
Jaded, not so much because it is too watery.

There you go, you guys saw my drugstore nail polishes. I know a lot of you are still waiting for my drugstore lipstick swatches, unfortunately my lips got wacked! Im serious! it was bleeding like crazy yesterday(hit my dresser) :( So, I have to say sorry for those of you who are waiting for my lip swatches. Maybe, nest week? I promise, I will do my best to treat my wounded lip. :)

on the bright side..

American Apparel polishes! *big little girl's smile*

So, here comes the review:

American Apparel launched 18 colors of cream nail varnishes . I only got 6 out of the 18, but I will gladly review each of them. I must say, American Apparel didn't play safe with the colors they made. They have a lot of blues, greens, and pinks in their collection, but they did a pretty amazing job with these polishes.
L-R: Berry, Hunter, Peacock, Rose Bowl, Factory Grey, and Dynasty

--> Sleek packaging! These polishes can save you some space.
--> They retail for only CAD$ 7.50! They are even cheaper than Revlon or Sally Hansen-even OPI and Essie
--> Cream finishes
--> The formula is good-not thick or watery. Just right! :)
--> Opaque and only need one coat
--> Dries pretty fast, but then again you still need to put top coat on it.

Swatches:
- take note that I have acrylics on.

Berry, Hunter, and Peacock (taken inside the house)- I'M GETTING READY FOR FALL :D
Berry, Hunter, and Peacock(Taken outside the house)

Berry(Cream)- Is a deep berry shade that goes on opaque in just one coat! Perfect!

Hunter(Cream)- this is my favorite out of the bunch. It is a deep hunter green that also, goes on opaque with just one coat.

Peacock(Cream)- Is a warm toned deep blue. This actually reminds of a peacock. :) This also, goes on opaque with just one coat, but I applied two coats on this one.
Rose Bowl, Factory Grey, and Dynasty(Taken inside)

Rose Bowl, Factory Grey, and Dynasty(Taken outside)

Rose Bowl(Cream)- This is a yellow-based pink. This reminds me of China Glaze Peachy Keen, but better-way better!!. It is a dream to apply, and again opaque in just one coat.

Factory Grey(Cream)- this shade has a tiny bit of blue undertone and opaque in just two coats. This is in the same family as Metro Chic and You Don't Know Jacques, but less purple undertone and more blue.

Dynasty(Cream)- Dynasty is a mid-toned mauve cream. This shade reminds me of Essie's Splash of Grenadine. Again, cream finish and opaque in just one coat.

ALL IN ALL- They did an AMAZING job! Two thumbs up for American Apparel. Majority ofIthem applies on perfectly. I think I like the formula of these better compared to OPI and Essie-that's a huge statement. Then again, I only got 6 out of 18. I know Butter- the pale yellow shade and Conney Island- the light neutral shade in this collection are a bit streaky and hard to apply.

Thanks for reading.

xoxo, Kim
