Face Issues

Hi Everyone,

Im Back and I've been thinking about getting back into blogging again. I just feel like I can share what I've been loving lately in regards to fashion, makeup, etc.

Now, let me tell you guys something about me:

1. I LOVE neutrals(hence the name of this blog). My closet is filled with Black, White, and Gray. Sometimes, I add a bit of seasonal shades here and there(Im obsessed with muted rose-y shades now).

2. In regards on makeup- I have dry sensitive skin, so I love dewy finishes and I slap on minimal products on my face.

3. I hope you guys can follow me on INSTAGRAM @kimchan16 and comment below your instgram username as well so I can follow you

So let's set the introduction aside and let me share with you what I've been slapping on my face for the month of January up until now.

FACE:
FOUNDATION:
Lancome True Radiance in #105 Nude and Loreal True Match Lumi  in N3(I will have a review up within this week)

BRONZER:
Too Face Chocolate Soleil Matte bronzer in medium/Dark

BLUSH
NARS blush in Deep Throat

EYES:
MAC QUAD PALETTE - Brule all over the lids /All That Glitters on the outer half of lids/ Tempting underneath the bottom lash line with NARS Ashes to Ashes eyeshadow
STILA Stay All Day Waterproof liner
Prestige Blackest Lash

LIPS:
I kept my lips super simple today just by slapping on this amazing Nars Lip Laquer in Chelsea Girls. I first heard this from Dara and I quickly ran to my nearest Sephora and grabbed one. I Think this product is already discontinued.

I also added lipgloss on top for a bit of shine

I will finish my first blog post of 2015 with a small NARS lipstick haul- stay tune and I will also write an in depth review(with swatches) on these beauties this weekend. I know, I know I did go a little overboard, but hey I need them.

Clockwise: NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte, NARS Audacious lipstick in Barbara, NARS Pure Matte in Montego Bay- Thank you Sandra for this recommendation, and NARS Lip Laquer in Chelsea Girls.

Let me know what are you favourite NARS lipstick shade. I've been eyeing ANNA from their Audacious line.

If Viva Glam Cyndi was my winter lipstick then...

MAC Crosswires will be my summer go-to lipstick. I just know it.

I was actually digging through my makeup stash and found Crosswires. I haven't heard anyone rave or even talk about this beauty, so I guess I will be the first one? or maybe not.

I bought this a year ago(or maybe 6-8 months ago) and only used it maybe three to four times and kept it away. You guys know that I'm a nude lips whore. I wear nude lipstick every single day- MAC Hue and GOSH Darling I'm talking to you. I love how nude lipstick looks on me. Maybe not the white undertone nude ones, but the pink, beige and peach ones.

Last winter, I would always wear Viva Glam Cyndi because it is not overpowering that people will look at you and say "why is she wearing a red lipstick on a school day". I actually had the courage to wear it because it is a subtle raspberry/pink shade that everyone can wear. If you do not want to wear the classic Snow White red, then go ahead and try Viva Glam Cyndi(if it is still available).I bought two back ups of Viva Glam Cyndi, so I don't have to worry about that. Now that the weather is changing I need to shift and change things a little bit, especially because I will be going to California a week from now. I want a pop of colour to emphasize my face and MAC Crosswires will do the trick.

MAC Crosswires- a coral-pink that is not too bright. Very subtle on the lips and easy to wear. It has a cremesheen finish and has the right amount of sheen. Definitely one of my favorite corals from the MAC permanent line. It is a cross between Viva Glam Cyndi and Vegas Volt. What I'm saying is that it has a hint of orange, pink, and red in it. Perfect if you want that "POP" of color on your lips.

Hand swatch from Temptalia.com :) because my camera decided not to upload the hand swatch I had in it.
This is random, but I'm currently reading Bobbi Brown's Living Beauty book. I'm actually enjoying it a lot.

anyways..

Do you have Crosswires? What will be your go-to summer lipstick?

Thank you for reading and have a great week.

USA Haul Part 1- (Lipsticks: Wet n' Wild, Loreal, and Revlon)

Hows your week so far? Ecerything good?

I went for a 3 day vacation in Seattle which is about 3 hours drive from Vancouver. I went with my family and thankfully it is a bit warmer there compared to Vancouver. I told myself that I should TRY to MINIMIZE my spending, but look what happened!? LOOK!

I ended up with seven lipsticks...

> Revlon Cherry Ice- A wearable Red with a hint of pink/coral. This is a good dupe for MAC Viva Glam Cyndi, but lighter and pinker.
> Revlon Cherris in the Snow- Bright magenta red. Think MAC Impassioned, but more wearable.
> Wet n' Wild 900B- Nude peach
> Wet n' Wild 903C- Nude with slight peachy orange undertones.
> Wet n' Wild 901 B- A very Wearable pink. Think MAC Angel but a little bit brighter.
> Wet n' Wild 909D-A wearble reddish coral, perfect for spring/summer.
> Loreal British Red- Classic red.

I'll start off with the Revlons and the Loreal lippies

I went looking for this revlon lipstick everywhere in Canada, but couldn't find it. I finally found Revlon Cherries in the Snow at Target.

Hand swatch: Loreal British Red-350 (Love the name!), Revlon Cherry Ice-012, and Revlon Cherries in the Snow-440 (I finally have you!)

and then the Wet n' Wilds...

Let me tell you a "short" story about why I bought these lipsticks. I saw Temptalia's tempting lip swatch of Wet n' Wild 909D on her blog and I got sucked it. These lipsticks cost $2.99 and they had a promotion Buy 1 Get 1 Half Price at Fred Meyers. WHAT A DEAL right?

These lipsticks are super creamy just like MAC's cremesheens and they are pigmented as well. When I first swatched them on my hand, they felt hard and a bit dry, but when I applied them on my lips when I got back to my hotel, they were super creamy and they glided on my lips like butter. If you ask me about their packaging, I would say they look cheap, but for the price, they are worth it. So for the WnW lipsticks, I only paid less than $10!

so anyways..heres some photos

hand swatch:Wet n' Wild 900B, 903C, 901B, 909D

I have lip swatches of Wet n' Wild 909D and 900B
Photo above: 909D
Photo above: 900B
Final thoughts: I'm ready for spring/summer and I'm very happy with all of these lipsticks I bought. I finally found Revlon Cherries in the Snow. I would suggest trying the Wet n' Wild
lipsticks.
Have a lovely week everyone and thank you for reading.

How to pull off nude lips

Happy March everyone. Spring is almost HERE!

I got loads of emails asking me how I can pull off nude lips knowing that I am PALE. Pale meaning I'm an NW 25 and I get paler during the fall/winter season(which is right now).

Trust me, it is very easy to wear nude lipsticks even if you have a fair skin.

Remember me posting the Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick post? Well I got lots of comments saying that they can't pull of the lipstick because it is too pale for them, etc. I disagree, you just need to do a little mix and match and everything will be fine. Don't be scared with nude lipstick, you just need to be creative and find another lipstick that can be partnered with the nude lippie.

So here we go..

I used these three lip products:

from left to right:
> Viva Glam Gaga 2 (nude beige)
> Viva Glam Gaga (pink with slight lilac tones)
> MAC TLC in Petting Pink

Here's a photo of Viva Glam Gaga 2(nude) alone, so let's turn this nude into more wearable lips
What you need to have:
1. A nude lipstick
2. A lipstick of your choice(red, pink, coral, orange, brown, etc)
3. A Lipbalm
4. Napkin

Steps:
1. Apply your lipbalm- I used my MAC TLC in Petting Pink
2. Apply your nude lipstick- MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2(nude)
3. Take a napkin and dab it onto your lips without wiping everything off.
4. Finally, apply your second lipstick of choice by just dabbing it or do tiny strokes- MAC Viva Glam Gaga(pink)

So here is the result:

What do you think? is it more wearable?
Make sure you guys have fun and try to mix n' match lipsticks.

Have fun!

MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 (swatches)

I'm gaga over Gaga 2 lipstick and lipglass(okay, that sounded cheesy!)

I assume by now the whole world knows that if you purchase a Viva Glam product, 100% of your money goes to the MAC AIDS fund.

Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick and lipglass.
> $14.50 in US ans 17.50 in Canada
> Viva Glam gaga 2 lipstick- light warm beige and has an amplified finish
> Viva Glam gaga 2 lipglass- light pink beige
> Same packaging with the first Viva Glam Gaga- with the red MAC logo and Lady Gaga's signature

Hand swatches:
Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipglass on the left- the lipglass looks browner and darker on the tube and when swatched, but take a look at my lip swatch below and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick on the right- I would say that this lipstick isn't all that brown when applied on the lips and it is very a flattering pinky/beige. No concealer lips here. The amplified finish of the lipstick is definitely a plus for me. Lip swatches:
> Take note that I have pigmented lips. The lipstick and lipglass may appear differently if you do not have pigmented lips.
Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick:
Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipglass on top of the lipstick:
Comparisons:
I have swatches of what I thought would be a close dupe for the Gaga 2 lipstick, but I don't think I have a dead ringer in my lipstick stash.
So from left to right(All MAC): Gaga 2, Peachstock, Creme D' Nude, Myth, and the bottom one is Hue.
As you can see nothing is similar with the Gaga 2 lipstick, but I think MAC Peachstock is the closest I have.
Here's Peachstock and Viva Glam Gaga 2 side by side.
and the swatch...
Gaga 2 on the left and Peachstock on the right.
> Viva Glam Gaga 2 is definitely creamier and has less orange tones compared to Peachstock.
Conclusion: I thought I wouldn't like them at first, but I'm glad I bought them. I will definitely purchase more in the future.
So did you purchase your Viva Glam Gaga 2 already?

Shopping My Stash: Part 2

and.. the "Shopping My Stash" journey goes on

If you haven't seen my part 1 of my "Shopping My Stash" series it is the post before this one(yesterday).

Okay, so let me share what I found in my makeup stash.

Somewhere inside that drawer, I found a bunch of lip products. I know lip products expire quickly, but no worries because I know if a product is already a no-no- if it smells funny, the texture of the gloss is different than it used to be, and if the gloss is chunky or cakey.

You all know that Sephora has their own makeup line which I actually neglect whenever I go there. I probably only own about 5 products from the Sephora line- 3 makeup bushes, 1 lip liner, and this lipgloss I'm going to talk about. If you know any Sephora products that's worth the money please let me know. I actually want to try some of their goodies. Thank you.

So the gloss I'm talking about is the Sephora Super Shimmer Lip Gloss in Pink-O-Lada

I reunited with Pink-O-Lada again and I'm very happy with her. Yes, I assumed "Pink-O-Lada" is a girl, well just cuz!

so anyways,

Why do I like it?
> Not sticky at all
> Tube Packaging- sanitary
> Affordable- $10
> Shining shimmering goodness
> Last for about an hour-2 hours
> Taste good- lemonade

What's a bad thing about it?
> the gloss is thick

Would I recommend it?
> Definitely! Sephora has tons of shades for this Super Shimmer Lip Gloss- I actually want to try - Limey(sheer green apple shimmer-yum), In The Buff (nude), and Flushed (magenta with gold shimmers)

here's some photos of Pink-O-Lada

I applied MAC Snob
Then slapped Pink-O-Lada on top- Tada! I told you its shining shimmering goodness :D
and then I found one more gloss - Revlon Fire Cracker
I remember before, I ranted about this product and then I set it aside, but I'm starting to like it now. It's a sheer orangey-red gloss- I recommend not wearing this alone(wear it on top of a nude or red lipstick), but If you don't have pigmented lips, maybe this gloss is for you.

ORANGE!
That's Firecracker alone on my lips :) I quite like it, but I prefer this gloss on top of a lipstick.
Conclusion: MORE GLOSS for me :)
Have you been shopping your stash lately? What did you guys find?
It's Thursday or maybe it's Friday in your country already, sooo ENJOY :)

Shopping My Stash: Part 1

Last night while watching Glee- in between commercials, I was sitting on my bed near my vanity table and decided to shop my stash. I know I have some lovely goodies in there that I need to use.

Whenever I buy new makeup, I just stack them in this drawer, inside their boxes(especially those with nice boxes- MAC)- I know, I know I'm a big time hoarder, but hey I can use them in the future right(blog sales)? So anyways, I know some of them have expiration dates, especially mascaras, glosses and cream products.

So, whilst "shopping my stash", I had a big kiddie smile on my face just because...eh I want to say its a "magical" moment, but that sounds corny. Let's just say I felt good looking through my collection and finding some good stuffs such as; blushes, cream bases, paint pots, and glosses.

I can't post everything at once because it will just be a tad bit boring to show you guys all the products I found all at once. So, I decided to cut them in parts(maybe 3).

Here are some photos of the place where I shopped- my plastic drawer

Before I went on vacation(that was 2 months ago), I went to Sephora to purchase some presents(Christmas) for my mom and sister. I used my 500 points and received a fusion beauty kit which I forgot I have(it was sitting on top of my bookshelf)- It came with 3 lip products, 1 mascara, and 1 illuminator. I decided to give the Fusin Beauty Lip InFATuation "In the Flesh" gloss a try. Honestly, I do not believe with the whole "lip plumping action" products out there sold in the market(even if they have the before and after lip pictures).

This is what Sephora said:

What it is- A shining, liquid, multi-action lip fattener
What it is formulated to do- Discover the first liquid color with extraordinary Amplifat technology to increase and maintain body fat just where you need it the most.
What it is formulated without- Parabens
What else you need to know- This ground-breaking plumper boosts natural lip fat without surgery or injections. It does not contain irritants or silicone.

I have the smaller size, but the full size costs $29(price of a NARS Blush)- pricey I know.

ladies and gents meet Lip Fusion InFATuation- "In the Flesh" lipgloss- I would give him a score of 8 out of 10.

Why I like it? because it a nude- not pink/white nude, but brownish- orange that looks natural and you won't have the porn star lips look. Not sticky at all.

Does it plump? Nope, it doesn't what a bummer, but it does have that tingly effect that I like. I know some of you might not want that feeling, so stay away from this product(or any lip plumping product).

Will I purchase a full size? Yes, but after I finish this. I will include this as one of my five glosses that I will be purchasing this year- GLOSSOUT 2011.

Do I recommend this gloss? Yes and No. Yes because of the color and it is not sticky(not like the MAC glosses). No, because of the price and it doesn not plump the lips.

here are some photos of the gloss

Blush aplicator is always a plus for me.Swatch- a gorgeous brownish- orange nude gloss
slap on MAC Hue
Apply the gloss
Tada! it settles on my lips perfectly and it blends in with the lipstick nicely.
That's part one of my "shopping my stash" series. I have lots more goodies to show you.
Will you be purchasing this gloss? Or if you have some Fusion Beauty products to recommend, please do comment below. I would love to try some of their products.
Have a good day

A LONG(very) Overdue Swap- from UK to Canada

A swap from the lovely AMELIA - She lives in UK, so what else can a girl from Canada ask for, but Barry M cosmetics of course!

She sent me lovely goodies such as candies, Rimmel London lipsticks, Barry M nail polishes AND 4 lovely shades of Barry M lipsticks.

I was really excited for the lipsticks specifically because of all the hype going on around the beauty community. I know that Barry M MIGHT be sold here in Canada *cross fingers* soon. I actually want more products from them, such as their dazzle dusts and glosses, but I will show you what Amelia sent me

To Amelia:
