Face Issues

Hi Everyone,

Im Back and I've been thinking about getting back into blogging again. I just feel like I can share what I've been loving lately in regards to fashion, makeup, etc.

Now, let me tell you guys something about me:

1. I LOVE neutrals(hence the name of this blog). My closet is filled with Black, White, and Gray. Sometimes, I add a bit of seasonal shades here and there(Im obsessed with muted rose-y shades now).

2. In regards on makeup- I have dry sensitive skin, so I love dewy finishes and I slap on minimal products on my face.

3. I hope you guys can follow me on INSTAGRAM @kimchan16 and comment below your instgram username as well so I can follow you

So let's set the introduction aside and let me share with you what I've been slapping on my face for the month of January up until now.

FACE:
FOUNDATION:
Lancome True Radiance in #105 Nude and Loreal True Match Lumi  in N3(I will have a review up within this week)

BRONZER:
Too Face Chocolate Soleil Matte bronzer in medium/Dark

BLUSH
NARS blush in Deep Throat

EYES:
MAC QUAD PALETTE - Brule all over the lids /All That Glitters on the outer half of lids/ Tempting underneath the bottom lash line with NARS Ashes to Ashes eyeshadow
STILA Stay All Day Waterproof liner
Prestige Blackest Lash

LIPS:
I kept my lips super simple today just by slapping on this amazing Nars Lip Laquer in Chelsea Girls. I first heard this from Dara and I quickly ran to my nearest Sephora and grabbed one. I Think this product is already discontinued.

I also added lipgloss on top for a bit of shine

I will finish my first blog post of 2015 with a small NARS lipstick haul- stay tune and I will also write an in depth review(with swatches) on these beauties this weekend. I know, I know I did go a little overboard, but hey I need them.

Clockwise: NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte, NARS Audacious lipstick in Barbara, NARS Pure Matte in Montego Bay- Thank you Sandra for this recommendation, and NARS Lip Laquer in Chelsea Girls.

Let me know what are you favourite NARS lipstick shade. I've been eyeing ANNA from their Audacious line.

If Viva Glam Cyndi was my winter lipstick then...

MAC Crosswires will be my summer go-to lipstick. I just know it.

I was actually digging through my makeup stash and found Crosswires. I haven't heard anyone rave or even talk about this beauty, so I guess I will be the first one? or maybe not.

I bought this a year ago(or maybe 6-8 months ago) and only used it maybe three to four times and kept it away. You guys know that I'm a nude lips whore. I wear nude lipstick every single day- MAC Hue and GOSH Darling I'm talking to you. I love how nude lipstick looks on me. Maybe not the white undertone nude ones, but the pink, beige and peach ones.

Last winter, I would always wear Viva Glam Cyndi because it is not overpowering that people will look at you and say "why is she wearing a red lipstick on a school day". I actually had the courage to wear it because it is a subtle raspberry/pink shade that everyone can wear. If you do not want to wear the classic Snow White red, then go ahead and try Viva Glam Cyndi(if it is still available).I bought two back ups of Viva Glam Cyndi, so I don't have to worry about that. Now that the weather is changing I need to shift and change things a little bit, especially because I will be going to California a week from now. I want a pop of colour to emphasize my face and MAC Crosswires will do the trick.

MAC Crosswires- a coral-pink that is not too bright. Very subtle on the lips and easy to wear. It has a cremesheen finish and has the right amount of sheen. Definitely one of my favorite corals from the MAC permanent line. It is a cross between Viva Glam Cyndi and Vegas Volt. What I'm saying is that it has a hint of orange, pink, and red in it. Perfect if you want that "POP" of color on your lips.

Hand swatch from Temptalia.com :) because my camera decided not to upload the hand swatch I had in it.
This is random, but I'm currently reading Bobbi Brown's Living Beauty book. I'm actually enjoying it a lot.

anyways..

Do you have Crosswires? What will be your go-to summer lipstick?

Thank you for reading and have a great week.

Haul: MAC

Hey everyone!

BAD BLOGGER HERE, I know!

I need to do a little catch up, so please link your blog below because I'm free this weekend.

But, I'm here again to share with you a tiny teeny haul from MAC. As you all know MAC Fashion Flower collection came out yesterday and..I didn't really want anything except for ONE lipstick(I will talk about that later). I'm actually happy that I didn't want anything because I can save money for my US vacation next week.

on the other hand...

I was suppose to purchase ONE LIPSTICK, but came out with three lip products. I have this $10 off so I guess that's not bad.

> MAC Oyster Girl lipglass(permanent)- This is my second tube, so that means that I really love this lipgloss. I can wear it on its own and it still gives me that glossy look that I want. Just take note that MAC lipglasses are a bit sticky.

> MAC Docile lipglass(limited edition)- This came out with the Jeanius collection two months ago, and they still have this one left, so I purchased it. It is a bit similar with Oyster Girl, but this one has a lilac tint to it.

> MAC Mlle lipstick(I KNOW, WHAT THE HECK is that name? how do you pronounce that?!)- Saw the swatches at Temptalia.com and fell in love with it. What can I say, I'm a sucker for all things pink, nude, and creamy. It has a glaze finish, but it still it is pigmented(just like Hue). I'm actually surprised that is a glaze because it is SUPER CREAMY. They should put this on Cremesheens.

some more photos and swatches.

(as you can see Mlle lipstick showed all the flaws on my lips that's why I didn't make this lip swatch extra big for you guys. :D. I should probably condition my lips before I wear this lipstick. I didn't put any lipbalm before applying this)

Oyster Girl lipglass
Docile lipglass
Mlle lipstick

Did you guys get anything from Fashion Flower collection?

Thank you for reading. Next up- APRIL FAVORITES.

Dupe Alert for MAC Stereo Rose! (Sneak Peek)

This is only a sneak peek of the blush dupe for Stereo Rose I was talking about. I say sneak peek because I will post an update tomorrow when I actually apply them both on my cheeks. Look out for that maybe tomorrow on Friday :)

Since I got received about 5 emails asking if I can post it as early as possible..here it is.

I present Body Shop Blush Trio in Warm Sunset and MAC Stereo Rose MSF

> Body Shop Blush Trio in Warm Sunset- Check it out here. I got this a month ago and didn't even bother using it, but I rekindled with this blush and it is seriously a dupe for MAC Stereo Rose. The price if, of course cheaper- $8.50. I'm not sure if I got mine on sale or if it is the actual price because it doesn't say on the website, but I love how it looks on my cheeks. It is a tiny teeny bit darker(more raspberry undertones) compared to Stereo Rose, but when applied on the cheeks- DUPE!

* one bad thing- ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE US.

> MAC Stereo Rose- This MSF was released last year(MAC In the Groove collection) and it was sold out everywhere because of the hype going around. Your best bet right now- Ebay, but for sure you will pay twice the price or even higher. This is my absolute favorite MSF, heck blush from MAC(along with Well Dressed). if you are familiar with MAC MSFs it is a hit or miss kinda thing because some MSFs are super glittery/shimmers, but others like Stereo Rose has the perfect sheen(not glittery or shimmery).

Here's a close up
MAC Stereo Rose
and.. Body Shop Blush Trio in Warm Sunset
Swatch for the Body Shop Blush Trio- now if you want a bang on dupe for Stereo Rose, just swirl your blush concentrating on the pink(bottom on the pan and the far right on my hand swatch) side of the blush.
Left finger: Body Shop Warm Sunset
Right  finger: MAC Stereo Rose

Left: MAC Stereo Rose
Right: Body Shop Warm Sunset
* So there you go a few photos and swatches to show you what I was talking about. I will try my best to update on how the Body Shop Warm Sunset blush and MAC Stereo Rose looks on my cheeks tomorrow, if not Friday.

Hope this helps.

I recommend checking the Body Shop blush trios. I have the highlighter one too- Cool Dusk. If you guys want a review on that just comment below :)

Have a nice Thursday and thanks for reading :)

Haul: MAC Quite Cute

A little bit late, but...

Here's a haul from the MAC Quite Cute collection last week.

At first I thought I would LOVE this collection, but when I saw it in person it wasn't what I thought it will be. Yeah, this collection has a pastel theme to it, the names are cute and the shades are absolutely gorgeous, but the quality and pigmentation is...how do I say this in a good way? uh...cheap and disappointing a little bit.

Last Thursday(April 7) I rushed to my nearest MAC counter and my mind was already set that I will be spending around $100-$120. Initially, I bought six products from this collection(2 plushglasses, 2 lipsticks, and 2 mineralized blush), but when I swatched the mineralized blush and tried it on, it was chalky and really powdery. So I got to do what I got to do..RETURN! So, I'm here, left with four products and spent less than a bill.
 I got:

Lipsticks:

> Playing Koi-  creamy white peach with a hint of pink(Satin)
- Love the color, but not really a fan of the look on my lips. Very drying and you can really see the flaws on your lips. I still need to learn how to wear this without looking like I never applied lipbalm on my lips.
> Candy Yum-Yum- Bright neon pink(Matte)
- This is my favorite of the bunch, doesn't look matte though and it is creamier than Playing Koi. When will I be able to wear this? I don't know, but I will eventually. :D

Plushglass: If you are not familiar with MAC's Plushglass, then I will explain it to you. They are marketed to give you plump lips. I don't think it works though :|

> Girl loves- Creamy pink with blue undertones
Love you- Creamy lilac
* I really have nothing to say about these plushglasses, but they are sheer and I really like them (I like the tingle okay?).

Photo below: Candy Yum Yum and Playing Koi

Photo Below: I Love you and Girl Loves Boy

* In conclusion, I have something to say to MAC:
PLEASE step up your game and don't release a new collection twice or thrice a month. Release a collection maybe once a month with good quality products, no more chalky/powdery blushes and uber sheer eyeshadows .

Thank you.

Thoughts? What did you get from this collection?

Vintage MAC Eyeshadow

Guess what!? Guess what!?

I just wanted to share what I have...

You guys ready?

Drum roll please?
1...
2...
3...

I have a vintage MAC eyeshadow.
Yes. this shadow is legit- I searched it up!
No. This shadow isn't expired- not chalky, not flaky.

I don't know what took me so long to blog about this, but whatever it's here and let me show the "treasure" with you. I use this shadow for crease color, for the upper lashline and lower lashline. I don't know from how many years ago this shadow was, but probably around 8 years ago? or even more?

Introducing...

MAC Cork eyeshadow
- super old school
- twisty cap
- ghetto sticker name at the back. Ha!
- no depotting available here.

and the swatch. I told you it's still okay.
Well, thats it.

What do you guys think?
My question is..should I keep it? or should I just throw it away.

Oh by the way, you can back to MAC this one. :)

Have a great week!!

MAC Quite Cute collection

Quite Cute I must say

Did you come here cuz you thought this is a haul? It isn't. Sorry, but I will be sharing with you what I will be gettng on Thursday when MAC Quite Cute collection launches. Being a makeup junkie isnt easy, not easy at all. You ask why? well... simple. It's not good for the bank account. Who agrees with me? I bet you all do because it's really hard to control the need of new makeup, especially when everyones talking about them.

The promo picture is stunning and quite(there's that word again) unique and preppy. When I first saw the photos of this collection from Temptalia.com, I got giddy and excited and told myself that this will be the ONLY collection I will purchase for the month of APRIL. I do want to get some YSL and the new Channel Coco Rouge Shine lipsticks, but no! I need to stop the temptation.

So I will try to budget and choose wisely.

You can find out more about this collection from Temptalia.com- the best source for us makeup junkies!

What I'm getting from this collection:

Lipsticks (CAD $17.50)
> Candy Yum Yum- Neon Pink(matte) - Do I need this? Yes, but I'm not sure if I have the courage to wear it. Im not sure if I will purchase this though. Might need a little persuasion :D
> Playing Koi- Creamy white peach pink (satin) - Do I need this? oh YES! Yes indeed. Im sure about this product. I will purchase this 100%

Plushglass(CAD $22.00)
> Girl Loves - bright blue pink - I'm currently doing LipglossOUT 2011, but I might purchase one plushglass. Can't say no to plushglass because it is my favorite formula out of the three MAC glosses

Lip Pencil (CAD $15.50)
> Naked- neutral - I don't own ANY lip pencil NONE! This will be my first one.

Mineralized Blush( CAD $27.50)
> Giggly- light pink with a lavender heart - Im not sure about this, I'm not a huge fan of the little heart design in the middle, but I do like the shade, so I'll be checking this out in person first.

Nail Polish(CAD $17.00)
> Mischievous- creamy mint - Do I need this? I have tons of creamy mint polishes. I will see it in person first.

So my total will be around CAD $120, but If I don't get the mineralized blush and the nail polish it will be around CAD $75 PLUS TAX! I gotta think think think!

I will update you guys on thursday when I post the haul.

Will you be getting anything from the MAC Quite Cute collection?

Have a great monday

Products of the Week

After four days of being MIA in the blogging community....I'm back!

I have been reading all entries for my Giveaway, which will end TOMORROW MARCH 20, so don't forget to JOIN. I will link me giveaway post below.

So anyways, I had a brilliant idea that I should do a "Products of the Week" post every weekend just to show you an update on what products I'm using at the moment.

for March 14-19, I've been using the following:
> Coastal Scents Bionic Flat Top Buffer brush
> MAC Melba blush
> NARS Deep Throat
> MAC Myth lipstick
> Revlon Peach Petal gloss

Face brush:

I use this Bionic Flat Top Buffer Brush from Coastal Scents to apply my bronzer and buff it in and it works as good as my MAC 182 kabuki brush. I will compare this and the Sigma F80 brush soon. I'm just waiting for my Sigma package to arrive.

Cheek products:
I've been using this cheek combo for the whole week and I'm very happy to report that people actually commented on it(in a good way). MAC Melba (very pigmented matte peach) and NARS Deep Throat (peachy-pink with subtle sheen) are soulmates, they should get married and have pretty peachy/pink blush babies.

Lip products:

Myth is probably one of the most famous lipstick from MAC(along with Angel, Creme D'Nude, Cremecup, Ruby Woo, Etc.). Some people said it dried up their lips, but some swore by this lipstick. I'm one of those people who swore by this satin finished MAC lipstick. I've gone through three tubes of Myth already and this tube is about to go dunzo.

On the other hand, Revlon Peach Petal was marketed as a limited edition lipgloss by Revlon before, but because of popular demand they brought it back.

I think I will never get sick with this lip combination because I'm a sucker for nude lips and most of all I like the way it looks on me.
Left: Myth
Right Peach Petal
Above- Myth alone Below- Myth topped with Peach Petal
*I've been really enjoying using what I have in my stash and been really productive finishing hair, beauty, and skin products. I have another "Finished" post coming up and they will be hair and skin products.

Have you been enjoying any product/s lately?

Don't forget to enter my GIVEAWAY. Ends TOMORROW MARCH 20! Follow me on TWITTER too :)

Enjoy the weekend! :)

MAC 109 & 116 brush (review & comparison)

Hi again,

Since I did include these MAC brushes in my February Favorites post, might as well do an in depth review of MAC 109 and MAC 116 brushes and couple of people requested me to compare these two brushes as well.

I do not have a lot of MAC brushes in my collection, and I know that it will grow pretty soon. I currently own- MAC 182, 109, 116, 217, 222, 219, and 239. Im happy with what I have, but(there will always be a but!) I want MAC 129, 242, and 134 in the future :D

okay enough with the lusting over MAC brushes

So here they are MAC 109 small contour Brush(top)- $32 in the US and $38.50 in Canada. This is a very small, soft brush that I find very useful for buffing in cream and powder products. If you go on Youtube and type in "Favorite brushes" or even "Favorite MAC Brushes" this specific brush will for sure come out. The only downside for this brush is that it SHEDS!

I use this brush for: foundation, blush, contour, and highlight.

What does MAC say about this brush: Use on the face to apply, blen, or contour powder products. Softly rounded dome tip delivers just enough color, smoothly blends contour into into the face.

For foundation: this brush works incredibly with any liquid foundation. You can find turotials on how to use this brush with a liquid foundation on Youtube. If you use this brush to apply your favorite liquid foundation it will give you a flaeless, full coverage look and it does use up lesser products compared to a MAC 187 stippling brush. The only problem with using this brsh to apply foundation is that it will take you a lng time to get your desired look. I tried using this twice and it took me literally 5-8 minutes.

For blush: I use this brush for blushes and this brush won't not give you a hard time when it comes to applying your blush. The brush is tiny and it is very compact that it gets the right amount of blush(don't forget to tap your brush before applying your blush).

For contour: I also use this brush to contour my cheekbones, just to give me that thinner looking face. I think this might be the best conour brush out there if you ask me. I use a light hand when applying bronzer on my cheekbones.

For highlight: Honestly, I don't use this brush for highlight that often, but I tried it maybe three times. You guys know that I use MAC Stobe Liquid Lotion as a highlight and I just use my fingers and then use 109 to biff in the Strobe Liquid Lotion.

Do I recommend this brush: YES! definitely YES!

Okay, done with 109 let's go on with MAC 116 brush shall we?

MAC 116 Brush(left) $32 in the US and $38.50 in Canada .This is a very compact blush brush which can also be used for highlight. I specifically just use this brush for blush and blush alone.

I use this brush for: Blush

What does MAC say about this brush: tapered for shading and highlighting cheeks and face with blush. The bristles on the brush are soft and form a full, rounded shape

For blush: It does pick up a good amount of colour and deposits it on your cheek nicely and flawlessly. If you are looking for a blush brush definitely give this a try.

For Highlight: Since it is tapered, you can use this to apply your highlighter. Just use the very tip of the brush and you are good to go.

Do I recommend this brush: Yes! if you are looking for a blush brush alone, but if you are looking for a versatile brush then I suggest go with 109.

________________________________________________

conclusion: MAC 109 is smaller, dome shape and good for blush, contour, foundation and highlight. MAC 116 brush is good for blush application and it is larger than the 109, but smaller than a MAC 126. SO, who won? They both work in different ways, so it is hard to choose.

I hope this review/comparison post helped you, if you are confused and if you are planning to purchase a MAC brush in the future.

Have a happy weekend :)

Finished!

Let's get straight to the point.

I've used up 3 products from my ever growing make-up stash and I'm actually glad about it. Do you guys feel the same way tho? Like if you hit pan a products you just feel happy that you finally finished it? It's either you are happy because you know your product was loved or maybe because you can just purchase a new one.

Okay enough blabbing and let us go with what this post is about shall we?

So, here are the products I've used up so far:

- NARS Laguna Bronzer
- Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper
- MAC Angel lipstick

Photos:
okay, I know this is the duo of Orgasm and Laguna, but I did it guys! I finished Laguna after a year and a half of using it almost everyday.

NARS Laguna- What can I say about this bronzer? It gives a subtle sheen to the face and it's a pretty good bronzer for paler skin people like me.
MAC Angel- Kim Kardashian's favorite lipstick, I love this lipstick, and it's the perfect everyday lipstick I've ever used. I will be purchasing this again pretty soon.
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper- This is my second and I've been using it everyday, but I will not purchase a third tattoo liner because I've found MAC Superslick Liquid Liner and I love it. So goodbye Kat Von D, you've been great.
(above)a not so appealing swatch.

There you go...three down for me!

I will be doing my February Favorites tomorrow. So watch out for that if you're interested

Happy 1st of March fellas :)

How to pull off nude lips

Happy March everyone. Spring is almost HERE!

I got loads of emails asking me how I can pull off nude lips knowing that I am PALE. Pale meaning I'm an NW 25 and I get paler during the fall/winter season(which is right now).

Trust me, it is very easy to wear nude lipsticks even if you have a fair skin.

Remember me posting the Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick post? Well I got lots of comments saying that they can't pull of the lipstick because it is too pale for them, etc. I disagree, you just need to do a little mix and match and everything will be fine. Don't be scared with nude lipstick, you just need to be creative and find another lipstick that can be partnered with the nude lippie.

So here we go..

I used these three lip products:

from left to right:
> Viva Glam Gaga 2 (nude beige)
> Viva Glam Gaga (pink with slight lilac tones)
> MAC TLC in Petting Pink

Here's a photo of Viva Glam Gaga 2(nude) alone, so let's turn this nude into more wearable lips
What you need to have:
1. A nude lipstick
2. A lipstick of your choice(red, pink, coral, orange, brown, etc)
3. A Lipbalm
4. Napkin

Steps:
1. Apply your lipbalm- I used my MAC TLC in Petting Pink
2. Apply your nude lipstick- MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2(nude)
3. Take a napkin and dab it onto your lips without wiping everything off.
4. Finally, apply your second lipstick of choice by just dabbing it or do tiny strokes- MAC Viva Glam Gaga(pink)

So here is the result:

What do you think? is it more wearable?
Make sure you guys have fun and try to mix n' match lipsticks.

Have fun!

Glow.

Look radiant with MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion.

Honestly, I don't own ANY MAC face products because I have very dry, sensitive skin and I'm scared that I might breakout, so I stayed away from them.

People always rave about Strobe Cream, but I found its sister.

I went to MAC and was looking for a good highlighter(for cheekbones). I tried A LOT of highlighting products such as Dior Amber Diamond, NARS Albatros, MAC Vanilla Pigment, MAC By Candlelight MSF, etc and yet I haven't found my holy grail highlighter. I went to a MAC SA and asked her what will be a good highlighter that will give me a "natural" healthy glow and won't look fake. I don't care if its powder or liquid, I just want to find my HG highlighter.

This is what I want a highlighting product to give me:
> Natural glow
> Will not give me a disco ball face(not shimmery)
> Light weight

and guess what?

MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion works perfectly. I didn't want to purchase the full size yet just because I want to test wether or not this product will break me out. I have been using this for over 2 weeks now(every day) and...I LOVE IT.

so..time to purchase the full size.

I got a tester, but I will quickly purchase a full size right after I finish this.

About MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion:
> $29.50 in the US and $38.00 in Canada (WOW! almost $10 difference :)
> Perfect for the summer season mixed with your foundation to give you a dewy face
> Contains iridescent pigments to give an all over subtle sheen
> Contains Bismuth- may give some people breakouts
> Lighter- weight compared to Strobe Cream
> No scent
Where you can apply MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion:
> all over face mixed with your foundation
> cheekbones
> nose bridge
> brown bone
> cupid's bow

Conclusion: I think this MIGHT be my HG highlighter :) Thank you MAC for making Strobe liquid lotion. You just made another girl happy.

What highlighter do you guys use?

ENJOY the lasy day of February

MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2 (swatches)

I'm gaga over Gaga 2 lipstick and lipglass(okay, that sounded cheesy!)

I assume by now the whole world knows that if you purchase a Viva Glam product, 100% of your money goes to the MAC AIDS fund.

Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick and lipglass.
> $14.50 in US ans 17.50 in Canada
> Viva Glam gaga 2 lipstick- light warm beige and has an amplified finish
> Viva Glam gaga 2 lipglass- light pink beige
> Same packaging with the first Viva Glam Gaga- with the red MAC logo and Lady Gaga's signature

Hand swatches:
Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipglass on the left- the lipglass looks browner and darker on the tube and when swatched, but take a look at my lip swatch below and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick on the right- I would say that this lipstick isn't all that brown when applied on the lips and it is very a flattering pinky/beige. No concealer lips here. The amplified finish of the lipstick is definitely a plus for me. Lip swatches:
> Take note that I have pigmented lips. The lipstick and lipglass may appear differently if you do not have pigmented lips.
Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipstick:
Viva Glam Gaga 2 lipglass on top of the lipstick:
Comparisons:
I have swatches of what I thought would be a close dupe for the Gaga 2 lipstick, but I don't think I have a dead ringer in my lipstick stash.
So from left to right(All MAC): Gaga 2, Peachstock, Creme D' Nude, Myth, and the bottom one is Hue.
As you can see nothing is similar with the Gaga 2 lipstick, but I think MAC Peachstock is the closest I have.
Here's Peachstock and Viva Glam Gaga 2 side by side.
and the swatch...
Gaga 2 on the left and Peachstock on the right.
> Viva Glam Gaga 2 is definitely creamier and has less orange tones compared to Peachstock.
Conclusion: I thought I wouldn't like them at first, but I'm glad I bought them. I will definitely purchase more in the future.
So did you purchase your Viva Glam Gaga 2 already?

Have a good day!
