Face Issues

Hi Everyone,

Im Back and I've been thinking about getting back into blogging again. I just feel like I can share what I've been loving lately in regards to fashion, makeup, etc.

Now, let me tell you guys something about me:

1. I LOVE neutrals(hence the name of this blog). My closet is filled with Black, White, and Gray. Sometimes, I add a bit of seasonal shades here and there(Im obsessed with muted rose-y shades now).

2. In regards on makeup- I have dry sensitive skin, so I love dewy finishes and I slap on minimal products on my face.

3. I hope you guys can follow me on INSTAGRAM @kimchan16 and comment below your instgram username as well so I can follow you

So let's set the introduction aside and let me share with you what I've been slapping on my face for the month of January up until now.

FACE:
FOUNDATION:
Lancome True Radiance in #105 Nude and Loreal True Match Lumi  in N3(I will have a review up within this week)

BRONZER:
Too Face Chocolate Soleil Matte bronzer in medium/Dark

BLUSH
NARS blush in Deep Throat

EYES:
MAC QUAD PALETTE - Brule all over the lids /All That Glitters on the outer half of lids/ Tempting underneath the bottom lash line with NARS Ashes to Ashes eyeshadow
STILA Stay All Day Waterproof liner
Prestige Blackest Lash

LIPS:
I kept my lips super simple today just by slapping on this amazing Nars Lip Laquer in Chelsea Girls. I first heard this from Dara and I quickly ran to my nearest Sephora and grabbed one. I Think this product is already discontinued.

I also added lipgloss on top for a bit of shine

I will finish my first blog post of 2015 with a small NARS lipstick haul- stay tune and I will also write an in depth review(with swatches) on these beauties this weekend. I know, I know I did go a little overboard, but hey I need them.

Clockwise: NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte, NARS Audacious lipstick in Barbara, NARS Pure Matte in Montego Bay- Thank you Sandra for this recommendation, and NARS Lip Laquer in Chelsea Girls.

Let me know what are you favourite NARS lipstick shade. I've been eyeing ANNA from their Audacious line.

SKINCARE: Face Routine

Happy weekend everyone

I would like to share with you a very simple face routine that I have been using for over a year now

Let me first start off with my makeup remover

BIODERM SENSIBIO H2O- Definite holy grail remover for me. I have been using this for over 2 years and purchase it over and over again.

Then, I rinse my face with FRESH SOY FACE CLEANSER - You can purchase this from Sephora for $40. I would recommend trying out the FRESH range from Sephora. I love their perfumes and face cleansers. This product won't leave your face dry and stiff. I have a dry and sensitive skin and this works absolutely fine for my skin type

After cleansing, I slap on my trusty CLINIQUE DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT MOISTURIZING LOTION. This comes in a gel form to which is targeted for oily/combination skin type.

and last but not least, Kiehls MIDNIGHT RECOVERY EYE CREAM this product lessens dark circles and fine lines. It is not a magical product that eliminates dark circles, just take note to that. I do love this eye cream it is not heavy and it does have a soothing herbal scent which i like. I really recommend this one compared to the Avocado Creamy eye cream they have.

Thats it! Take note that i have dry/sensitive skin :)

Thanks for reading and have a good weekend

Glow.

Look radiant with MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion.

Honestly, I don't own ANY MAC face products because I have very dry, sensitive skin and I'm scared that I might breakout, so I stayed away from them.

People always rave about Strobe Cream, but I found its sister.

I went to MAC and was looking for a good highlighter(for cheekbones). I tried A LOT of highlighting products such as Dior Amber Diamond, NARS Albatros, MAC Vanilla Pigment, MAC By Candlelight MSF, etc and yet I haven't found my holy grail highlighter. I went to a MAC SA and asked her what will be a good highlighter that will give me a "natural" healthy glow and won't look fake. I don't care if its powder or liquid, I just want to find my HG highlighter.

This is what I want a highlighting product to give me:
> Natural glow
> Will not give me a disco ball face(not shimmery)
> Light weight

and guess what?

MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion works perfectly. I didn't want to purchase the full size yet just because I want to test wether or not this product will break me out. I have been using this for over 2 weeks now(every day) and...I LOVE IT.

so..time to purchase the full size.

I got a tester, but I will quickly purchase a full size right after I finish this.

About MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion:
> $29.50 in the US and $38.00 in Canada (WOW! almost $10 difference :)
> Perfect for the summer season mixed with your foundation to give you a dewy face
> Contains iridescent pigments to give an all over subtle sheen
> Contains Bismuth- may give some people breakouts
> Lighter- weight compared to Strobe Cream
> No scent
Where you can apply MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion:
> all over face mixed with your foundation
> cheekbones
> nose bridge
> brown bone
> cupid's bow

Conclusion: I think this MIGHT be my HG highlighter :) Thank you MAC for making Strobe liquid lotion. You just made another girl happy.

What highlighter do you guys use?

A Purple Holiday Makeup Look

How's the Holiday shopping going? Are you guys done? 16 more days till Christmas.

WOW December is flying by quickly. Then, New Years is up next. What's your New Years resolution? I think mine will be spending wisely and do not buy A LOT of makeup. I'll TRY to persue this New Years resolution of mine.

Oh, I have a quick question...Are you guys going on a Holiday Vacation? or are you just staying home with your family and friends?

Last Week, I think that was a Saturday, my friends and I went Holiday shopping. I, personally do not like shopping with a lot of people. I prefer shopping alone because I can stay in one store for how many minutes, or hours(Sephora, H&M, Aritzia). If you're shopping with guys, do expect that they will rush you because they will for sure say "hurry up! you're taking hours to shop!" Don't you just hate that!? I DO!

Do you prefer shopping alone? or with a bunch of people? I guess I don't mind shopping with my mom/sister or with couple of friends.

Anyways, enough with the chit chat of what I did last weekend and lets go on with my FOTD. I guess this look can be worn during the Holiday right? well, I will :)

Here's my Purple Holiday makeup Look(nothing fancy)
I used couple of new products and loving them to pieces. Let me show them to you.
FOR EYES: I first applied MAC Painterly Paintpot(as eyeshadow base), then I used MAC Jest(for inner half), MAC Star Violet (for outer half), and tiny teeny amount of MAC Carbon eyeshadow(for outer V). I then applied MAC Superslick Liquid Liner in On The Hunt(upper lashline). Lastly, I used MAC Technakohl in Graph Black(waterline). For Mascara- I used YSL Faux Cils(2 coats)
FOR FACE: I first mixed my foundation- NARS Sheer Glow in Ceylon and MAC Face and Body in C3, then I applied concealer- YSL Touche Eclat(for undereyes) and MAC Select Moisture(for uneven shades on my face and for scars/zits). Then I used MAC Natural Skin Finish in Medium(for all over face powder)I then used my NARS Casino Bronzer for cheek/face contour, and applied NARS Deep Throat blush. Lastly, I used MAC By Candlelight for highlight(cheeks/nose) .
FOR LIPS: Simple and nude. Just the way I like it :)- I used MAC Hue lipstick and Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Nude Lustre

The new products I used are the MAC eyeshadows(Jest and Star Viloet). I love them. I personally like Jest better compared to Star Violet just because I know I will be using Jest more often. Jest is SUPER SIMILAR to Naked Lunch, but it has more pink tone to it compared to Naked Lunch.

So what will you be sporting on Christmas eve or Christmas Parties(makeup wise)?

Happy Thursday :)

Haul: Face Products and A Comb

Sorry for the lack of post, but I'm here again after 4 days of not blogging and I feel horrible.

Here's what happened:

I tried posting this one 4 days ago(Thursday), but my computer was being SLOW and decided to upload one photo for 10 minutes. I'm very impatient, so I just decided not to blog last Thursday.

Last Friday, I tried posting this one up again and my messed up computer AGAIN, decided to be a turtle once again. I need to upgrade to MAC, seriously!! I'm using an HP right now.

Yesterday(Saturday) I got sick and had a slight fever, so I slept for almost the whole day. I'm feeling so much better now! Thanks to green tea with maple syrup and honey.

So here are the face products I bought when I was in Seattle last week.
L'oreal Go 360 Clean.($7.99)

I was really curious on how this works. I love how it comes with the rubber face scrub(shown below). I can't do a review on this yet because I haven't tried it yet. My sister tried this and said that it made her face really DRY. Yikes! that's not a good thing is it!? It's not good to give a false review right? So watch out for my own review of this face product if you are interested.

Sonia Kashuk REMOVE Eye Makeup Remover($9.99)

I think I saw Elle(Allthatglitters21) talk about this and I really need an oil-based makeup remover, so when I went down to Seattle this is the first thing on my list. I originally wanted the Clinique one(purple bottle/blue bottle), but it's expensive, so opted for this one instead.
My Review- It works better than Clinique and the price is BETTER than the Clinique one too. You need to shake the bottle very well in order for the water and oil to mix. This eye makeup remover performs just as well as the high end oil-based ones I have used (Clarins, Estee Lauder, Clinique), at a fraction of the price. It effectively removes all traces of my long wearing makeup. Highly recommended!

PROS:
- oil-based
- not expensive
- removes eye makeup in a swipe
- removes waterproof makeup

CONS:
- hard to find in Canada(bought mine at Target)

Aveeno Active Naturals- Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads. (28 pads $7.95)
smooth side
rough side
My Review- If you ask me I love my Neutrogena wipes better. This product has a rough exfoliating side and a smooth side as well. I only use this TWICE a WEEK. I first wet my face and then use the rough side and scrub my face GENTLY, then I use the smooth side of the pad and then finally, wash my entire face with water. It does TAKE OFF makeup and it also REMOVE waterproof mascaras and liners, but everytime I use this, it makes my face DRY.

PROS:
- smells good
- exfoliates the face
- comes with a smooth side and a rough side

CONS:
- dried my face out
- only comes with 28 pads
- I recommend NOT to use this DAILY

Wet Look comb(I forgot how much this is, but I'm pretty sure it's less than $5)

Best comb for wet hair because of the large teeth. I highly Recommend this one. I have nothing bad to say about this. It's just perfect. :)
PROS:
- pretty colors
- large teeth
- makes the hair smooth after combing it

CONS:
- hard to find here in Canada(bough it at Sally's Beauty Supply Store in Seattle)

Remember: DO NOT brush your hair with a small teeth comb because it will DAMAGE your hair. Always use a large teeth comb like this one. Goody sells nice large teeth combs too.

- other colors available

All in all, I highly recommend the Sonia Kashuk Eye Makeup Remover and the Wet Look comb.

What have you guys been diggin' on lately? Any new buys?

xoxo, Kim

I Dislike the Wave

The Neutrogena Wave Power Cleanser that is!

This is worth CAD$15.00

According to Neutrogena.."The first of its kind, the Neutrogena Wave original vibrating power-cleanser is still shaking up the cleansing world with its gentle vibrations. It's guaranteed to leave skin feeling softer and smoother after just 1 use, and cleans 10x deeper to remove more oil, dirt, and makeup than traditional cleansing. It's so gentle you can use it daily. Plus, it's water-resistant, so you can use it at the sink or in the shower."
I got sucked in with the commercial because Hayden Panettiere and Vanessa Hudgens are the ones endorsing it.

According to Hayden and Vanessa, the new Neutrogena Wave vibrates on your face which will allow the soap to clean deeper, and remove surface residue, and makeup better then other facial cleansing soaps.

The Waves vibrating action supposedly will stimulate the skins surface, and open up pores, to allow this deeper cleansing action.

Neutrogena Wave Power Cleanser comes with the Wave hand held power cleanser, 14 cleansing pads, and an AA battery. Everything you need to get it started.

The 14 pads came in 2 separate white plastic bags. I noticed that each pad was wet, and stacked one on top of the other. Once the package was open, I could not re-seal it.

Well It did open up my pores and it did vibrate , but lets see..

I heard lots of rants about this products and I'm joining in.

I hate this face product because...
a). The pads- only one use then done! you need to throw the pads away after one use because it is disgusting. You do not want to see black heads sitting on the pad. Yuck!

b). The pad packaging- you can see why I hate the packaging. Ripped, cheap plastic! Come on Neutrogena, I know you can do better than this. I wish they put the pads on a plastic container or something uhmm maybe..... re-sealable!
c) The Wave hand held cleanser itself!- This is after three uses. How ugly is that!? That's without a pad.
d). When you remove the pads after washing your face... self explanatory!!!
e). ....and most of all, it doesn't remove make-up!

so enough with the rant, now I will explain how to use this "Wave"

- I wet my face first,

- put the cleanser(with the pad of course!) under some water,

- I clicked the button on the Power Cleanser, and rubbed the pad around my face. The vibration from the device was okay, and it took quite awhile for any foam to develop on my skin. The scent has a Neutrogena smell(you will know what I'm talking about if you are a neutrogena user). I actually like the smell.

- I wait for about 3 minutes then I rinse it with water.

This is how it looks before I wash my face

Clean and fresh pad...
look how little foam was released...
This is after I wash my face- as you can see on the photo below, the pad moves and doesn't stay in place.
Sorry for including this photo- I know it is gross, but I just had too. This was after I washed my face with it.You can see that the pads move and it doesn't stay in place. Annoying!

So that's a rant and I'm not going to repurchase this "The Wave" ever again. I do love Neutrogena tho, especially their facial wipes(Im going to do a review on this soon)

You disappoint me Neutrogena, but I will always repurchase your wipes!

Have you tried Neutrogena Wave Cleanser? What do think of it?
